Hi! ‘IMP’ is absolutely brilliant. If someone hasn’t heard it yet, how would you describe the track?

A: Hey! Thank you so much. I sent it to someone last week and they said it was very reminiscent of trip-hop, which I can see. I think it’s kind of trip-hop- pop, almost. Very funky and dark; Portishead meets Massive Attack and then they both meet Janis Joplin haha. It’s a song to vibe to as you cruise through the French Quarter.

How would you say it compares to your previous releases?

A: Well, all of my previous releases have been almost demo tracks; acoustic guitar and vocals. IMP has a much more polished sound. I would say the production value has been massively stepped up. Sam Fisher, my producer, has worked with some of the most talented people in the industry and his guidance has definitely helped my sound and vision come out on this track.

Are you planning to make it part of a larger release, such as an EP or album?

A: Oh 100%. This is the very first single off a ten song album. And then after that there’s a whole nother album in the works. I actually have a trilogy envisioned, so yeah definitely more to come.

I’m very interested in how you started your adventure with music, and did you know from the beginning that this is what you wanted to do?

A: So, it’s kinda funny. Music is in my blood. My dad plays the saxophone, both of my grandmothers are musicians, my great-grandfather was a musician. I think growing up with all of that influence around me, it always just felt like a natural path to walk down. It did take me a while to get there though. I think I had to build up self-confidence and release that, yes, your dreams ARE achievable. But you have to work to make that happen. Once t

Your music seamlessly blends various styles and sounds. If you had the opportunity to collaborate with anyone, who would you choose and what would be the reason behind your choice?

A: I would love to work with Kevin Parker. I’ve seen Tame Impala several times in concert now and each show is always phenomenal and better than the last, which is saying something. I think we could make some really cool music together. If you check out the bridge on IMP you can hear what I call my “ghostly wail” in the background. I want to hear what he could do with that.

What is the best advice you have received as a musician?

A: Never give up, which is really frustrating to hear honestly, but if you can get past that frustration and internalize it, it will drive you even when your car’s on E.

Where are you based? Can you tell us how the music scene there has inspired your sound at all?

A: I’m based out of New Orleans! The best city on the planet to gather inspiration, I love this place. Walk down the street and you’ll hear five different genres in a span of five minutes. It really puts you out of your box, which is fantastic for creating. The jazz influence has definitely impacted the way I write my chord progressions.

And what was the first album you remember owning?

A: The first one I remember paying for would be If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late by Drake. My friends and I spent a summer blaring that as we went to the lake. Everything else before that is hidden behind a limewire tinted veil.

Finally, have you got anything to share regarding upcoming gigs, and what have you got planned for 2024?

A: I’ve got a tour scheduled for the start of 2024, gonna be going through Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama. I think you
