Hi! I really loved your release ‘Enough’ and find it absolutely brilliant. If someone hasn’t had the chance to listen to it yet, how would you best describe the track?

A: Thanks, Jade! The song Enough embodies themes of reflection and tenacity. There is a driving piano riff and steady drums in the beginning. The song expands with strings, horns and additional guitars in the bridge.

Where was it recorded?

A: We recorded the drums, bass, piano, vocals, vibraphone and horns with Nick Broste in Chicago. Carl Barc and Paul Oliveira recorded the strings, harmonies and additional guitars in New York.

Do you have plans to include it in a bigger release, like an EP or album?

A: Yes, I released this song with my full album, From The Garden.

I’m interested in how you began your musical journey. Did you always know that this was your true passion?

A: I was always drawn to music but wasn’t sure in my youth how to pursue a career in music. I would sit around for hours consumed in a sound. I would go to my friends’ homes and play on their pianos for hours because I didn’t have one at home. I finally started guitar lessons around 12 and piano shortly after. It took me a long time to be able to connect the ideas in my head and play them on an instrument. I ended up going to college for music and that’s where I really started stepping into songwriting. I learned so much from my friends who were also songwriters and got a glimpse into how they approached writing music.

Your music blends various styles and sounds in a captivating manner. If given the opportunity, who would be your ideal collaborator and what is the reason behind your choice?

A: Thank you! I would love to collaborate with Taylor Swift because I think it would be so much fun to work together. I’m curious in how she approaches developing a song throughout the entire process. Her latest records each have their own style and sound. I think it would be fun to hear her insights in the mixing phase and also in regards to the artwork and design.

What has been your favorite musical experience so far?

A: My most recent album release shows in Illinois and New York have both been great experiences. The NY and IL bands both played exceptionally well and I think the audiences were receptive to that.

Where are you located? Can you describe how the local music scene has influenced your sound in any way?

A: I’m based in Brooklyn and have also been spending part of my time in my hometown of Chicago.

If you had the opportunity to perform at any venue worldwide, which one would you choose and why?

A: I would love to play L’Olympia in Paris! I’m hugely influenced by French music. Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel and many other fabulous artists have played there over the years.

What was the first album you remember owning?

A: It wasn’t the first album I owned but I remember going with my mom to Best Buy to buy Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness.

Finally, do you have anything to share about upcoming gigs? Also, what are your plans for 2024?

A: I’m in the planning stages right now for setting up winter shows and a spring tour. It’ll likely be mostly solo or duo shows. I plan to book full band shows in/around New York and Chicago, too. I’m applying for various music festivals and would love to play some in the new year. I’m also writing new music and planning to record in 2024.
