It didn’t take long for Griff to establish herself on the UK music scene. From her massive break-out hit “Black Hole”, to collaborations with Norwegian pop-princess Sigrid (“Head On Fire”), her debut mixtape, 2021’s “One Foot In Front Of The Other” led her to win Rising Star at the Brit Awards and the NME Radar Award. Griff has also supported some of the biggest names in the music industry – including Colplay, Haim and, most recently, Dua Lipa.
Known for her pop-infused explorations, the London-based artist has returned after a short release hiatus with her brand-new track “Vertigo”. Self-produced, “Vertigo” is an overtly personal delve into “always feeling upside down” as Griff wears her heart on her sleeve to convert the disortientation of your 20’s into a lush soundscape.
On the track Griff confessed, “ (“Vertigo”) refers to an emotional state – always feeling upside down. Experiencing love and growing up, it always feels like the world and my emotions are spinning faster than I can keep up with. “Vertigo” is the beginning of a new creative chapter for me, and I’m excited for us all to go on this journey together.”
Complete with soaring vocals that complement the uplifting nature of the percussive beat, “Vertigo” is a wholly emotive track that sees Griff depart from the more pop-oriented “Black Hole” to deliver a track steeped in electronic beats and synth-laden intonations. If this new cut is anything to go by, this new direction Griff is heading in, is set to propel her further into electro-pop fame.
