Hardcore fossil fans would usually be the only ones excited by the recent emergence of a supersaurus, a 40 foot long dinosaur from the Late Jurassic period. Fast forward to the 21st century and meet SUPERSAURUS – your new favourite band. Inspired by the likes of MUNA, The 1975 and The Aces, London based indie-pop quartet SUPERSAURUS are a non-binary fronted girl band specialising in sad-girl pop bops.

Their personal experiences with depression, anxiety and being part of the LGBTQ+ family are central themes of their music, interweaving their identities into slick earworms. Despite the lyrical content, their tracks are surprisingly upbeat. They have even covered a classic hit by Irish band B*Witched, ‘Cest Le Vie’ on Soundcloud adding a touch more rock to the equation.

Bragging rights include being featured on Spotify’s “Hot New Bands” playlist at the end of 2022 with their 4th single “idk”, having their 5th single “Valentine’s Day” featured on BBC Introducing Rock on BBC Radio 1 and a prestigious slot at TRUCK Festival earlier in July on the Nest Stage – shared with some big names like American rock band We Are Scientists and punk up-starters Heavy Lungs.

Their latest single ‘Let U Down’ builds on their previous material, buzzing with energy and potential. “I know you want to kiss me, but you don’t know how” they sing, a desperate call to a lover. The result is an 80’s dreamscape of snappy guitars and spiralling synths, ‘Let U Down’ is their most atmospheric effort yet. As they work on finessing future material, expect more self-produced cuts towards the end of the year. Gathering unstoppable momentum with their recent string of singles and raucous live shows, unlike the dinosaur that came before them, SUPERSAURUS are here to stay.
