Hi! Congratulations on being the Grand Prize recipient of the 11th Annual Canada’s Walk of Fame RBC Emerging Musician Program. How does it feel to receive such a prestigious award?

First off, thank you, it truly is an honour! It’s so surreal. Achieving these life long dreams is incredible. I’m looking forward to this next chapter. I love composing the melodies I hear in my head and knowing that my stories and my music are resonating with the industry is the greatest gift. I’m grateful that my messages are making an impact.

As part of your prize, you will be performing at the Canada’s Walk of Fame 25th Anniversary Celebration in Toronto. Can you share what we can expect from your performance?

You can expect a whole lot of love and energy and the reveal of an emotional new song.

Your recent single “Keep On Giving The Love” has been highly anticipated. Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind this song and its music video?

“Keep On Giving The Love” holds a special place in my heart, dedicated to both my listeners and the younger version of myself. If I had stumbled upon this song as a kid, it would have been more than just music, it would have been my anthem. I sometimes got made fun of for being a singer and although I continued pursuing what I loved, the sense of shame found its way into my mind and it took some time to let that go. Over time, I’ve grown older, embracing pride in who I am and what I do. This song is my way of sharing an uplifting message of love and positivity with everyone. It’s also a great song to dance to.

You have been making your mark on the music industry as a renowned songwriter, composer, and performer since your debut on the singing competition show La Voix. How has your journey been since then?

It’s been a whirlwind of emotions. I’ve definitely had a lot of time to grow and find myself as a person and as an artist. The pandemic, though tough at times, pushed me to get out of my comfort zone and write all the ideas I had in my mind. Since then many of my songs have found their place in movies and tv series and my first EP was born at that time.

Your songs “Je serai là” and “Not Alone” were featured in the globally distributed film “La Course des Tuques”. How does it feel to have your music reach such a wide audience?

It’s the coolest thing. I’m proud of this project. The team at Carpediem Films & Tv as well as Blü Dog Media, truly gave me the biggest gift by placing these songs. I’ve always loved movie soundtracks and especially soundtracks from my favourite animated films. It’s cool to know that a movie that will be seen by kids worldwide, will always have a part of me in it.

Your latest bilingual offerings “Jusqu’à toi” and “Fly Away,” will be featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming film “La Légende du Papillon” / “Butterfly Tales.” Can you share more about the process of creating these songs?

I wrote these songs in the studio, accompanied by my producer for this song, Jonathan Dauphinais. Jonathan was strumming his guitar and took out his phone, started recording on his voice memo app and I let my brain and voice do its thing. I freestyled melodies and the song wrote itself. Once we were done recording, we listened back and loved the melody composition. I then wrote the lyrics to accompany the melody.

You have collaborated with esteemed Quebec artists such as Canada’s Got Talent 2022 winner Jeannick Fournier and King Melrose. What was it like working with them?

It was truly an honour. King is a friend of mine, and him asking me to write Tout est permis with him was so cool. I love the song. Writing for Jeanick Fournier, was a different scenario but was such a fulfilling experience. A few songwriters and producers were selected by her label, Universal music Canada, to write and compose Jeanick’s album. Still so grateful that I was chosen. Jeanick shared with us many stories of her life and we were all taking notes. It was amazing to write these songs, knowing the great woman and voice that would be taking them on afterwards. This project is very special to me. I can’t wait to hear her singing these songs live on stage one day.

You have also contributed to popular TV animated series like L’Agent Jean/Agent Jon Le Bon and MiniJean Mini Bulles/Mini Jon Mini Maple. How different is it to create music for animation compared to other mediums?

It’s just so fun and lively. I get to let loose and have fun with the sounds and the lyrics. It’s all about creating songs that will be captivating for a younger audience, but also for their parents and family members that will be hearing them on repeat. It’s always fun.

Lastly, what are your future plans? Can we expect more singles or perhaps an album in the near future?

I can say that big things are coming and that singles will be coming out more often than ever.
