Hi Katie Rox! So that our readers can know a bit more about you, please introduce Nice Horse.

A: We are an all female, self-contained country band based in Calgary, AB

You’ve just released your latest single ‘Things I Wish I Didn’t Know’ and it’s amazing. For those who haven’t heard it yet, how would you describe the track? A) Thank you! We wrote this song with Jimmy Chow and Danick Duppelle. Jimmy tossed the idea out and we gravitated to it right away. Who hasn’t been in a conversation with someone who is just telling you more than you need to know and then we let our imaginations run wild. Musically, I LOVE how much of a builder it is, which is something new for us and I absolutely love it. It is so satisfying to perform this one live.

Where did you record it?

A: We recorded this song at OCL Studios, just outside of Calgary with producer Murray Pulver

Your music interweaves so many different styles and sounds. If you could collaborate with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

A: Oh man, that’s a tough one. There are so many people that it would be amazing to collaborate with. It’s no shocker that I’m going to say Dolly Parton. I worship her and everything she does, and it seems like she can do ANYTHING. Being on anything with her name would be a dream come true.

What’s been your favourite musical experience to date?

A: Also a tough question! We toured with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band who are Nashville royalty and that was wild to me. I grew up on their music, my dad had records of theirs that were made before I was even born. To be on stage with them was a real trip I will never forget.

Where are you based? Can you tell us how the music scene there has inspired your sound at all?

A: We are based in Calgary, though I live in Vancouver. Alberta has an absolutely incredible music scene that is so supportive and overflowing with talent.

Can we anticipate a forthcoming EP or album from you soon?

A: Yes! We finished recording just a few weeks ago and we will have a full EP to release in the spring of 2024

Finally, do you have any updates on upcoming gigs? What are your plans for 2024?

A: We are itching to get that new music out and get on the road to play it! It’s going to be a busy year.
