Hi! I really loved your release ‘Higher‘ and find it absolutely brilliant. If someone hasn’t had the chance to listen to it yet, how would you best describe the track?
A: I’d describe it as a spiral that spins gently through unconsciousness, and also as a wave of relaxing and comfortable feeling of purity.
Where was it recorded?
A: In my home studio, as most of the music that I produce.
Do you have plans to include it in a bigger release, like an EP or album?
A: The track has been released with my last album, IXVXI, as also with an EP that includes two remixes, made by the Bologna based producers knarzy and Jr Asa Nauw.
I’m interested in how you began your musical journey. Did you always know that this was your true passion?
A: Yes, definitely. Since when I was around 12 years old I considered music as my main interest and so it has always been.
Your music blends various styles and sounds in a captivating manner. If given the opportunity, who would be your ideal collaborator and what is the reason behind your choice?
A: I like to collaborate with people I meet or with people I get in touch with for some reason. The human side of a collaboration I think is fundamental. For example I saw knarzy playing in a club here in Bologna, and I found her sound stunning. I don’t think I would have asked her to release a remix version of the track Higher without having had the chance to see her playing live. So to get back to your question, it’s all about relationships and meeting opportunities.
What has been your favorite musical experience so far?
A: In this period I’m working on some remixes for other artists. Maybe I would not consider it as the favorite experience ever made, but I think that I’m having a lot of fun doing this. I like so much to work on someone else’s music and at the same time finding new inspirations for myself while doing this,it is pure magic.
Where are you located? Can you describe how the local music scene has influenced your sound in any way?
A: I live in Bologna, Italy. Local scene here is strictly connected to the squat culture that historically characterized this city. Times are changing and like all the rest of the western world also in Bologna, during the last decades, the administrations had strongly reduced these kinds of spaces. Despite this trend I can say that the city keeps peculiar forms of resistance in terms of art.
If you had the opportunity to perform at any venue worldwide, which one would you choose and why?
A: I really would like to perform in London, a city that I Love, especially in a place called Oto Cafe. It’s a small venue but with a perfect atmosphere. It would be awesome.
What was the first album you remember owning?
A: 13 by Blur. The first album I bought with my own money. Not sure I completely understood those songs at that time, they were unexpectedly weird, but after some months I started to get into it and it was amazing.
Finally, do you have anything to share about upcoming gigs? Also, what are your plans for 2024?
A: I’ll be around to play many gigs. Out of Italy I’ll be in Berlin on 20 January. But I’m also planning other live dates.
