Hi! So that our readers can know a bit more about you, please introduce The East Pointers
A: G’day! We’re a contemporary folk band from wee ol Prince Edward Island.
Congratulations on the release of ‘Safe In Sound’! The EP sounds fantastic. What inspired you to create it?
A: Thank you! Safe In Sound is a continuation of and the “B” side to House Of Dreams. After losing our bandmate and best friend, Koady in early 2022, we’re grateful to continue creating with him in spirit. Every track on Safe In Sound, is either something we’ve written while he was with us in person, or developed from one of his musical ideas 🙂
What is your favorite track on the EP and why?
A: Hmm, I’d have to say “We Will Meet Again” because it features our favourite singer, Rose Cousins 🙂
The Canada tour kicked off on August 17th in Peterborough. Can you tell us more about it?
A: We’re touring on the East Coast and Ontario, then we head to Australia and then the UK in the spring. It’s a busy stretch of shows but it’s such a treat to play these new songs out on the road.
What’s been your favorite musical experience to date?
A: There are so many, but a highlight was headlining the Main Stage of Woodford Folk Festival, which is the most magical festival in the world in our opinion.
Where are you based? Can you tell us how the music scene there has inspired your sound at all?
A: We are based in PEI, on the east coast of Canada. You wouldn’t necessarily think, but it punches well above its weight for musicians. There’s so much talent and it’s only growing. We were lucky enough to have some talented musicians to look up to when we were getting started – lots of inspiration.
Finally, do you have any updates on upcoming gigs? What are your plans for 2024?
A: We’re hitting the road to Australia, UK and summer festivals. Lots of exciting stuff to come!
