Placing heart-on-sleeve songwriting at the forefront, Rain has become known for her candid songs about personal struggles. Her recent EP ‘GUTTER VISION’ showcased her most honest and vulnerable work to date, exploring topics such as mental health and toxic relationships. It offered an intimate glimpse into Rain’s mind.

Despite the EP debuting just a few months ago, Rain is already back with her first single since its release, titled ‘Terry and Julie’. This thought-provoking track departs from Rain’s usual autobiographical style and instead tells the fictional story of long-lost lovers reconnecting. Rain explains the inspiration behind the track:

“I drew inspiration from one of my favorite songs, ‘Waterloo Sunset’, and wrote about Terry and Julie, who meet at Waterloo station every Friday night. The idea quickly evolved into a middle-aged crisis love affair, where they have both married other people but reconnect later in life, realizing their feelings for each other, and so on. So, it’s a summery love song anthem meets prime time BBC ONE Drama starring Suranne Jones.”

Driven by foot-tapping beats and laidback guitar melodies, the track perfectly captures a sense of nostalgia and the passing of time. The intricate instrumentation and moving lyrics poetically describe the complexities of life fading away when the couple is together. The track’s atmospheric production cleverly complements its heartwarming storyline, with an earworm chorus featuring melodic rhythms and echoey hooks.

Rain’s ethereal vocals complete the piece, showcasing her deep and soulful voice. Her leading vocals and angelic harmonies add to the track’s blissful sense of escapism.

‘Terry and Julie’ not only serves as a dreamy anthem for the summer months but also solidifies Eden Rain as one of the most exciting upcoming artists.
